What a Weekend...

One of my closest boys, Ivan (Iban) Kaulana Kenji Duldulao, came to the CHI this past weekend from good 'ol Tucson, Arizona. I was hoping to see what one Hawaiian looked like freezing his okole off in -6 degree weather but alas, it wasn't meant to be. You lucky, Kaulana! And eh, you left about 10 A&W Rootbeers in my fridge, one Hostess Pudding Cake, a whole package of Kings Hawaiian Sweet Bread and a 3/4 eaten tub of Rainbow Sherbert....not to mention the caramel mac nut popcorn (much mahalos, auntie!) your mom got me.....damn you! Always good to see you, brah. Hopefully I'll see you again soon!

Mr. Ian Ginoza was also in town and showed us a good time at a dope spot called Boutique. Partying w/ the Saint Alfred fam is always a good time. Much mahalos, Ian.

My good friend Michelle and her 1.5yr old son, Tai, decided to stopped over in Chicago for a few hours on their way to the in-laws in Ohio to say hello. I hadn't seen Michelle since her wedding in '02 and it was my first time meeting the little one. Ann Arbor Road Trip

Wow, it's been over a month since I've updated this so here's a big update for those of you that look at this....

So yeah, I'm STILL in frickin Chicago. I'm supposed to go back to Tokyo at the end of this month but I highly doubt that is going to happen. In a nutshell, we're having problems setting up an account w/ a clearing firm in Tokyo since the company we used to clear was absorbed by UBS. It's going on 5 months of living out of a motherfucking suitcase w/ the same goddamn clothes! And on top of that, it's starting to get a little chilly here in the Midwest and I have no warm clothes....FAK!

Anyway...So Claire invited Kaku and me up to Ann Arbor for a University of Michigan football game last weekend. Now, I thought U of A was white, but Ann Arbor is on another level. That place was the WASP-iest (White Anglo Saxon Protestant) place I have ever been to. I have no idea how my dad survived his undergrad there, especially back then.

It was a crazy weekend, though. I seriously wasn't prepared for the excessive amount of drinking that was going to take place, especially since I was under the assumption that Claire and her Michigan Law friends didn't party that hard.....I sorely underestimated them.....I think I'm still drunk and it's been about a week. It is a little disconcerting, though, that LAW students party that hard. Maybe that's why our judicial system is so fucked up.....what do you think, Claire? HAHAHAHA!!

So on the first night we downed 8 pitchers of Stella Artois while playing a game called Quarters til 3am. Then I was awoken at 6am by the blaring music of frat row. Then we stumbled out of bed and went to Claire's friends house to tailgate at 9am. More beer and games of flip cup and spinning flip cup ensued. Then we went to the Big House to watch the game. That place is unbelievable. It seats 107,501 people! But then it starts pouring down the coldest rain I have ever felt and the game is delayed due to weather for the 1st time in the stadiums 79yr history! WTF! Cold, wet, and hungover from the night before, we decided to get some sleep and rest up for our last night there. That night we crashed Claire's friends birthday party at this restaraunt, went to the most haole bar I've ever been to called Rick's, had a few beers, watched Claire touch her knee's to her elbow's and called it a night.

It was a whirlwind weekend and a lot of fun. Much mahalos for showing us such hospitality, Claire!

In The Windy....

It's been a minute since my last post but here are some pics since I've been back in Chicago.

Being back in the States has been nice. Cruzin with all the Chicago boys and little things like American TV; Sportscenter, the new season of Rescue Me, MTV, etc. I have this channel right now called MTV Jams. It's just straight Hip Hop and RnB videos. No commercials what-so-ever. I guess it's only available if you get the most expensive cable package possible, but it's totally worth it.

I am looking forward to getting back to Tokyo, though. August 26th is my return date but I may have to stay in Chicago longer for work....hopefully not, though.

Anyways, this past weekend some friends and I went to the southside of Chicago for the PHLI block party. Rhymefest was set to be there and we got there right as the performance was going to start. I was getting my camera ready and I hear Kanye's song "Drive Slow" start playing. Then, I hear Kanye rappin....I looked up and Kanye was 20 feet in front of me! Kanye, GLC and Rhymefest performed a bunch of songs. Crazyness....
